Who Is This Jeff Baas Guy?
The story behind One Stop Web Support's tips and tools for starting your online business
OK, sometimes I get a little carried away. Giving advice online, seeing my newsletter subscriptions grow, seeing growing readership for my blog, I sometimes feel pressured to come across as some kind of multi-billionaire marketing genius.
I'm not.
That's not to say I don't know anything about Internet marketing.
Strong track record in Internet marketing
I built my chief client's website up from one that was barely visible to become the #1 website in his field. I'm closing in on a half-million dollars that my marketing has made him.
Along the way, I've been recognized for my business-building insights with a syndicated column on IdeaMarketers.com and as a featured business writer on Buzzle.com.
Still growing
But that doesn't make me a millionaire marketer. My client work still provides more income than my own sites. I keep promising myself that I'll cut back on my client work and focus on my own sites. But it seems like every time I do, I get drawn back into more projects for my chief client and good friend.
But in many ways that simply puts me in the same boat as most new business owners—trying to advance while juggling competing responsibilities. But I'll keep you informed of what I learn about beating that "new business trap" as I go along.
So what am I doing giving advice?
One of the projects I've done for my client is to build a large network of wholesalers for whom he dropships products. (Not sure what dropshipping is? Check here.)
I was surprised to find how many applicants for his program were absolute beginners in business. The excitement they showed for becoming their own boss was fun to see. But many of them struggled with how to make their business work. I cringed as I saw them hook up with various scams that did little but suck their money away.
Resources for business owners as they start their businesses
So I started One Stop Web Support as a resource site to help people start new businesses online. On One Stop Web Support I:
- Give tips that can help you grow your business
- Steer you away from the scams that can leech your money away
- Steer you toward tools that can actually help you
What I offer on this site
I provide tips and tools for both website-based businesses and auction businesses, with:
How I make money on this site
I make money on this site by affiliate marketing. Many of the tools I recommend give me a commission for each sale made through my site.
Yeah, I know some people may see my reviews as suspect because of that, but I can't devote the time I devote to giving FREE advice unless I have some way to get paid for my efforts.
My approach to affiliate marketing
I only recommend products I believe are worthwhile and that I use myself. I've had people approach me and offer me sweet deals to recommend their substandard products. I will not recommend something unless I believe it truly helps business owners succeed.
I've changed or pulled recommendations when I've learned of negative experiences others have had with a tool I had found useful. I've devoted hours to answering questions about products I've reviewed—even if the people who contacted me swore they would never buy through my link for fear that I wouldn't give them an honest answer if I had a chance to make money off of the sale.
My ultimate goal
My ultimate goal is to help you achieve your dream of starting a successful business online. If I do that well, I'll make money along the way.
I don't look at success as a destination, but as a journey. To succeed, we don't only grow as business owners, but as people as well. I continue to learn as I go. I'll let you know what I've already learned—and what I continue to learn along the way.
Helping you become the successful business owner you want to be.
