eBay Tips - Use "Want It Now" to Find Buyers

Are you using this largely overlooked tool to find eBay buyers who are looking for you?

eBay has a service for buyers that, if you aren't using it, you really should. It's called Want It Now, and it gives buyers a chance to requests items they need and sellers a chance to browse those requests and respond to those that they can fill.

Use it to find motivated buyers

To give you an example, I decided to do a test this morning. I went on Want It Now, and limited myself to five minutes of browsing to see what I could find in that amount of time. There were over 18,000 requests in the top level category that I list in and over 350 requests in my specific category.

I looked through less than half of those requests, but found one for something I have in my store right now and two others for items I could easily list there. I added the item I had to that response list and am looking into adding the other two items to my store so I can respond to those requests, as well.

Will they buy? That's up to them. But Want It Now puts my products in front of three people who have expressed enough interest in buying something I can provide that they went through the effort of posting a request. I'd say those are the kind of people I want seeing my products!

And that's not all that eBay's Want It Now can do for you. Here are some more tips of how eBay's Want It Now can improve your eBay business

Use it to conduct market research

What better way to find out what people are looking for than to browse through the Want It Now requests. Pick the categories you list in—or check out potential new categories.

Do you see any trends in themes people are looking for? Brand names? Are the things they're looking for things you could find easily and list?

Act as a go-between for a finder's fee

Some people would rather have someone else do the legwork for them. There are services out on the Web that are available to anyone who searches them out.

But some people would just as soon post a request and let someone else do the searching for them. Do you know of good sites for travel, tickets or other popular intangibles? Then check Want It Now for requests for those categories and arrange a finder's fee with the provider if you facilitate the transaction.

Make sure you check out eBay's Want It Now. It's a service you can't afford to ignore.
