How Dropship Suppliers Can Profit Your Business

Dropshipping can be a reseller's dream come true. You, as reseller, can sell all types of quality dropship products without paying the manufacturer or distributor a cent until you've already collected the money from your customers for them.

Selling products from a dropship supplier eliminates your need to stock and ship anything. Your dropshipper stocks and ships your products directly to your buyer. You simply take the order and forward it to your dropship supplier.

It's a great way to get started selling physical products online. It eliminates a lot of risk by removing the possibility of buying products from the suppliers only to find that your customers don't buy them. With dropshipping, you buy only the products that you've already sold.

Finding dropshippers can take time, though. Not all manufacturers want to fill individual orders. Many suppliers prefer to sell in bulk to big stores. That means that finding dropship suppliers can be challenging.

Searching for dropship suppliers on your own

One way to look for dropshippers is to search for a product online, then contact the seller to ask if they will dropship for you. Searching blindly on the Internet often results in the following four things, though.

Long hours of hunting for the original manufacturer

If the manufacturer who makes the product already dropships, other resellers may already list their product on their websites. You'll likely sort through several resellers before you find the original manufacturer. In fact, some dropship suppliers leave sales entirely to resellers and have a very limited presence online. That can make them hard to find.

Middlemen who take an unnecessary cut of your money

In addition, you'll probably run across some businesses who are more than willing to sell "their" products to you—at a markup over what they pay the real dropship supplier that sells to them. And that markup takes money our of your pocket unnecessarily.

Scammers who sell outdated wholesale lists

You'll also find scammers who sell outdated lists of out-of-business wholesalers copied out of some outdated business directory. If you're lucky, you might find a few of those companies still in business.

Complete dead ends

Finally, many companies you contact simply don't choose to dropship. Those businesses prefer to sell their products by the pallet to resellers who pay up front and do their own stocking and shipping. Many manufacturers simply won't dropship their products for you.

Finding dropshippers through legitimate dropship directories

Fortunately, some companies provide legitimate directories of dropshippers. These legitimate dropshp directories prescreen dropship suppliers strenuously and keep their directories up-to-date. Legitimate dropship directories can save you weeks as opposed to the old hunt and email method of looking for dropship suppliers.

What to avoid in a dropship directory

How can you tell the legitimate dropship directories from the scammers? Scammers sell lists—period. They have no staff to research manufacturers or verify their legitimacy.

Scammers often have a limited assortment of products. They go to great lengths to persuade you that those few products will be easy to sell. They may even try to sell you a prebuilt webstore filled with their mass-produced trinkets.

Scammers offer a small sampling of available products, but then expect you to trust their word about how much more they haven't let you see. And they generally offer nothing to help you get started in working with dropshippers. Their approach is, "Just buy the list, sucker!"

What to look for in a dropship directory

Legitimate dropship directories, on the other hand, have staffs that research suppliers constantly. They hunt down dropship suppliers online and visit trade shows around the country to identify and list only the top sources of dropship products.

They give you access to thousands of dropship suppliers with millions of wholesale products. They help you contact dropshippers whose products suit you best instead of backing you into selling whatever products they push, as the scammers do.

Legitimate dropship directories offer proof of the scope of their directories. They let you tour them (although with company names and contact information blanked out) so you can see exactly what you'll get.

And legitimate dropship directories are truly helpful in teaching you how to succeed online. The best of them even offer free ebooks, such as "Starting Your Internet Business Right" or "How to Find Real Products You Can Sell Online" to help you work with dropshippers and set up your business successfully. Some even provide video tutorials on how to set up your business with dropshipping.

My experience with top dropship directories

I've personally worked with the best dropship directories to get wholesale suppliers listed. I've seen how serious these directories are about listing only legitimate dropshippers.

I've also used these directories to find products to resell online. And I've never found any dropshipper in them that was anything less than satisfactory.
