Yeah, I know that, for some people, "step-by-step" equates with boring, but I've seen so many people go the more exciting route—just winging it—and I've seen their attempts at at building a business crash and burn. Believe me, taking it step by step at least gives you a fighting chance.

Most people approach their first online business with a lot of enthusiasm, but no idea of where to start. They read a little about how to do this or that, and jaunt off merrily in whatever direction that leads.

The book is extensive—nearly 350 pages—it won't cover every possible promotion technique available. You won't find 150 pages devoted to blogging or 200 pages devoted to the most advanced search engine optimization techniques.

You don't need those yet.

What you need is to get your affiliate business up and running with a solid, productive site. You can always seek out advanced training in technology and promotion once your site is up and earning you money.

I have to chuckle sometimes at the way he almost begs readers in places to just keep following the steps and not skip ahead. He knows the excitement of starting your first affiliate marketing business and knows how easy it is to get off track. But getting off track almost always leads to getting lost and having your dream of a successful online business fall apart.

Martell's advice is solid for anyone starting an affiliate marketing business online. Following his handbook's steps makes it easy to get up on the web and provides a dandy safety net to help even complete newbies on the Web to feel comfortable setting up their first affililate business.
