Internet Marketing Tool review - SearchIt! Marketing Research Tool
Review and tips on a free, multi-purpose Internet marketing tool that puts dozens of popular online tools at your fingertips for free
If you're at all like me, your browser's bookmark list
overflows with great Internet marketing research sites and tools. And if you're
like me, you don't always make as much use of these
great tools because you forget what you've bookmarked.
So Ken Evoy of SiteSell fame has developed SearchIt!, a handy—AND FREE—research tool to put some of the most valuable Internet marketing research tools at your fingertips.
What you can do with SearchIt!
SearchIt! is filled with some of the most familiar marketing research tools online. And it combines those tools with some little-known, but extremely useful, tools that are under the radar of all but the most savvy marketers.
And it puts them all together into a single interface so you don't need to navigate from one site to another to use them. Keep SearchIt! open on your desktop and you can do dozens of research tasks from that single screen.
And I'm not exaggerating when I say that there are dozens of research tasks that you can do. I tried to count them all once and lost track well over 100.
Here are some of the types of research you can do with SearchIt!. And bear in mind that this list may not be complete. They've been known to add new Internet marketing tools to it all the time.
Keyword research
There are a wealth of keyword research tools you can call upon when brainstorming. The ones I list here only scratch the surface.
- Tools that tell how often people search your keywords
- Tools that tell what competition you have for those keywords
- Tools that give synonyms of your keywords
- Tools that show what keywords your competitors are using
- Tools that show what keywords Amazon or eBay are using
- Tools that give new, off-the-wall ways to approach brainstorming keywords
Domain name research
SearchIt! connects you with Internet marketing tools that help you:
- Brainstorm domain names
- Check the availability of that great domain name you thought up
- Check to make sure the domain name you want hasn't been trademarked by someone else
Keyword-rich content for your site
SearchIt! also connects you with marketing tools that:
- Find keyword-rich content for your website
- Test the effectiveness of your pages in pre-selling
- Find profitable ways of monetizing your site
Other marketing research tools
What I've mentioned so far is only a brief sample from some of the categories of Internet marketing tools that SearchIt! puts at your fingertips. I'll mention just a couple more that I really like.
- Tools to research your competitors
- Tools to find out how deeply the search engines have spidered you
- Tools to find niche search engines and directories to which you can submit your site
How to use SearchIt!
Like I say, there are a lot more tools than I've mentioned here.
Intimidating until you get used to it
As a matter of fact, the one problem I've found with SearchIt! comes from its very strength: its wealth of Internet marketing tools. The wealth of options can be intimidating.
But once you understand how this tool works, you can have a lot of fun checking all the candy in this candy store—oops, I mean all the valuable Internet marketing tools in this research toolkit.
How to get started with SearchIt!
When you open SearchIt!, you'll see a small window in the upper left of your screen. This window has:
- Two selection boxes where you make your choice of research tool you want to use
- A link that leads you information about how to use the research tool you chose
- Two text boxes to use in entering the keyword or website url you want to research with that tool
- A button
Here's how to approach SearchIt! for best results.
- In the Step 1 box, select the Search Category you want.
You'll always have a wide selection in this box. Pick one. The Search Category you choose will determine what choices are available in the Search Type box in Step 2.
- In the Step 2 box, select the Search Category you want.
You'll always need to select a Search Category and a Search Type in Steps 1 and 2 to use any of the research tools.
- Do not not fill in the text box in Step 3 yet. First click the link below the boxes for Steps 1 and 2.
I know, I know. Your natural inclination is to go to Step 3, but if you don't click the link first, you won't know exactly what to do in Step 3 and you'll likely get an error message.
So click the link. A popup message box explains exactly what kind of results your search will give you. It will also tell you what type of info to fill in to Step 3 (and Step 4, if necessary).
- Now you can fill in Step 3 (and Step 4, if necessary).
- Click the SearchIt! button. (Be sure to use the button and not your Enter key.)
A new page will open with tips about how to get the most out of the research results you're about to receive. Again, read the info (at least until you've worked with that particular research tool enough to know the tips it gives you). It has some great info about how to use your research results to improve your site's profitability.
- When you're done with that page, click the link to see your research results.
A powerful tool for a great price
You simply can't beat the price—it's free. I use it a lot. And lots of e-business owners open this tool when they start work every morning and have it available on their desktop all day. There's no end to the uses you can find for it.
Bookmark it and make sure that this is one bookmark
you remember to use!
