Review of Wordtracker Keyword Analysis Tool
Does it have any value for you?
I long ago learned not to rely on my own opinions
of what keywords people are using to search for
products. I can't tell you how many times
I've expected to see that some keyword was highly
searched only to find that it receives little
to no attention at all.
And I can't tell you how many absolute gems of high demand, low competition keywords I found through keyword research on Wordtracker, gems that let me win high rankings easily for frequently searched terms that most of my competition ignored.
I've used Wordtracker for finding the best keywords for websites since I
first started building websites and never decide keywords for
a site until I've tested them on Wordtracker.
What Wordtracker does for you
Wordtracker tracks search activity on meta
search engines and then translates that into
estimates of the number of times the keywords
you choose will be searched on each major
search engine.
It also shows you how many other websites compete for those terms on each search
engine and determines the keywords
that have the most promising combination of
high demand and low competition.
Using Wordtracker
I consider Wordtracker a must-use tool when
building or expanding any website. Check out
the trial version to get a feel for it. Then sign
up for a day, a week, or whatever length of
time you think you'll use it.
A short subscription is all you need
You don't necessarily need an ongoing
subscription to it unless you do keyword
research frequently. A lot of new website owners are intimidated when they see Wordtracker's annual subscription cost. But if you're doing keyword research for a single site and have no plans to do more in the foreseeable future, you don't need to sign up for a year's subscription.
You can sign up for as little as a day or a week. And with the keywords you find, you'll easily recoup the $8 you pay for a day's subscription or the $25 for a week's subscription.
How to research keywords in Wordtracker
Once you're there, you have a number of choices on how to research keywords in Wordtracker. What I do depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. If I want to do an extensive search, digging up every possible relevant keyword that time permits, I use the Keyword Universe tool.
But if I want to simply get a quick feel for a certain family of keywords, I'll go into the Comprehensive Search option under the Multiple Search tool and type in a single, one-word keyword and see what kind of other keywords that contain that single word people are searching for.
Easy to use
I've found Wordtracker pretty easy to use. Each tool gives you easy to follow steps to successfully complete your keyword research. The biggest challenge is with the wide variety of tools to choose from.
But Wordtracker can help you to overcome even this obstacle. Check out their Wordtracker Academy option under the Wordtracker Support area. It provides all the tutorials you need to make good use of your Wordtracker subscription.
Also, check out an excellent new free ebook, the Keywords Research Guide, in which nine top marketers who are veteran Wordtracker users each show their unique approach to keyword research on Wordtracker. They give lots of ideas on how to get plenty of valuable info out of Wordtracker's extensive database.
Trial version
Wordtracker has a trial version that you can sign up for to get a feel for it. The last I checked, the trial version limits you to only 15 keywords and limits your competition research only to the competition on the AltaVista search engine, but it gives you a good feel for how Wordtracker works.
Final thoughts
I have a yearly subscription because I use Wordtracker so frequently, researching keywords for myself and for clients. I've tried other alternatives, but keep coming back to Wordtracker because of its ability to either dig deeply and uncover keyword gems or give me a snapshot of people's search patterns when it comes to various keywords.
I've used it for years and recommend it highly.
Whatever period of time you sign up for, you're sure to get far more than your money's worth.
