What Can You Expect from Your Email Marketing?
One reason that many people hesitate to build an optin list and market to it via email is that they don't know what to expect. Thankfully, autoresponder giant aWeber is not afraid to share their customers' results.

Here's some results aWeber's email marketing customers received for April. Yeah, it's a little late. Blame me for not finding this quickly enough. But it should give you some good ideas on what to expect from marketing to an optin list.

And look beyond the stats in the article I linked to. The writer also gives some great tips for improving your open rates (the percentage of people who open the email you send them).

Building Relationships with an Email Newsletter
One obstacle many businesses encounter when they consider ongoing contact with their potential customers is the feeling that their business isn't of sufficient interest to customers for them to want to receive communication from them on an ongoing basis.

That thought comes from the mistaken idea that if your business is about water purifiers, every newsletter must speak about technical specifications of water purifiers. That's not the case, though. The focus on any newsletter is not to sell your product, but to build relationships with your potential customers.

In other words, you're not trying to get one sale from each person now; you're trying to nurture an army of loyal repeat customers who will buy from you again and again.

As such, instead of focusing on technical specifications of your product, you want to focus on the needs and concerns of those whose needs and concerns position them potentially to use your products.

A good example of building a newsletter around the needs and concerns of your potential customers can be seen in an analysis done in aWeber's blog of a travel planning site.
Enjoy!
Jeff

Navigating Your Customers' Spam Filters
If you read my post from Tuesday, I'm happy to announce that my problem with my spam filter deleting my own newsletter has been solved.

Turned out that one persistent spammer I had blocked had created a little trap in his emails so that my filters would interpret any email from his email address as coming from mine. Thus, when I blocked him, I was actually blocking myself!

At any rate, along the way of finding a solution to this problem, I ran across a number of articles on email marketing that I thought might prove helpful to you in making sure your email marketing doesn't trip your customers' spam filters.

I'll link to them from time to time so you can check them out.

Here's one that warns about Six Ways to Screw Up a Customer Email.

Here's to more hassle-free emailing!

Death to Overzealous Spam Filters!
No, I'm not going spammeister on you. But enough is enough. I'm fine with spam filters in theory. But sometimes they drive me crazy.

It's gotten so that my own spam filter is eating the test newsletters I send to myself. I always subscribe to my own lists so I can see my newsletters as my subscribers see them.

But lately, I find those emails that I send to myself from my own email address being deleted as spam by my spam filters. I work hard to create newsletters that grade out as completely free of spam red flags. I have a nearly perfect deliverability record.

BUT MY OWN STINKING SPAM FILTER HAS TAKEN TO SNACKING ON MY OWN NEWSLETTER.

I keep going through my spam filter settings and keep finding nothing that could trigger the filters on my newsletter.

It just goes to show how difficult email marketing is getting to be nowadays. That isn't a reason, though, to set followup on your customers or your subscribers aside. No, not all of your email will get through. But it remains essential to keep in contact.

Keep connecting with your customers!
Jeff

P.S. If you have concerns about your emails getting through to customers, check out the upcoming webinars on email marketing over the next few weeks at aWeber. The webinars are free and are being given by a company that has some of the best deliverability results in the business.

Check these webinar's out. aWeber KNOWS email marketing.

Hottest Offers for May 4
Each Friday I share with you the hottest online marketing deals I've come across in the past week.

May Day discount on SiteBuildIt!
It's hard to describe what SiteBuildIt! is, because it does so much. It's more than a site-building tool.

Most site-building tools help you with the nuts and bolts of building a site. But then they leave you to figure out on your own how to make it profitable. Good luck with that, especially if you're just getting started in business online!

SiteBuildIt! takes you by the hand and walks you not just through building your site, but through every step of the way of making it profitable, too.

How much do I believe in SiteBuildIt!? Last time they had one of these discount sales, I bought a pair of sites for my two youngest children (one in high school and one in college). I gave them each a site. Each of them is now building a site on their own special interests with the goal of using it to pay for their own college education.

I wouldn't stick my kids—or their ability to pay for college—with a business-building solution I didn't fully believe in.

But remember, time is limited on this one. Click here to find out more

Or click here to go right to SiteBuildIt! and then click on the banner to find out more about the discount.

aWeber Autoresponder Service Free Tips and Tools
I've been preparing a full review of aWeber Autoresponder Service for this Sunday's newsletter.

I received a surprise.

I knew it was a great service. But what surprised me was to see how much you can get out of them for absolutely no cost.

And that makes aWeber a great pick for this week's hot offers.

Click here to find out what all you can get from aWeber for free.

Or go straight to aWeber to check out their full service.

Those are my picks for this week.

You can still check out some of the top offers that are still available from previous weeks. Check it out for some exceptional bargains that cost next to nothing.

FREE Trial Subscription to "Secrets To Their Success"
While no one could accuse the price of Derek Gehl's "Secrets To Their Success" membership site of being excessive, it just got even better for this week.

He's offering free trial memberships to "Secrets To Their Success" for this next week.

That means you'll get to see two extensive case studies of successful web businesses in which Derek's interviewers tear into every aspect of the businesses to find out what made them successful.

Personally, I have page after page of notes that I've taken on these case studies over the years. And I've put many of those tips that made other businesses successful to work in building my own profits.
